My Streamlight Microstream cap broke

I have a great little single AAA flashlight by Streamlight called the "Microstream". Well the little guy broke the other day. Nothing to major the light still works but, the rubber tail cap boot is missing so the light is not as water proof as it should be. So, I emailed Streamlight which have a lifetime warranty on their stuff. They emailed me back within a few hours and said a replacement was on its way. Once it comes in I will write a review on this light and show how to replace the tailcap boot.

My love of cars.

Ok, everyone who knows me knows that I just simple love cars. I really love cars!!!! I commonly fall in love with a new vehicle about every other week. Now, I do have some that I have always loved and I will always love. The rest are like I said just my obsession for that week. I hope that I am not the only person in the world like this.
So, with that being said, I was at the drug store today and this vehicle pulled in next to me that was just awesome. I had to check this vehicle out. It was all black, and super clean, very classy.
Anyway the vehicle in question was a Chevy Traverse. This thing is nice. Here is a few pics of different ones. Now, I can not afford one of these. But like I said give me about a week and I will be in lust over some other car. But for now, This is my car of the week. Check it out at http://www.gm.com/vehicles/frame.jsp?c=http://www.chevrolet.com/

Modded the Solitare.

Well, like I said I found an old Mag lite Solitaire that I had when I worked at the plant. I put a battery in it and fired it up. Now, I am a huge fan of high powered LED flashlights. So, when I turned this little guy on I was "oh, wow, that is weak." So, I modded it. I went to radio shack and picked up a 5mm LED, and a MN21/23 which is a 12volt battery. Total cost was like $3.23 or something odd. Which is good, I only had $4.00 dollars on me. I went home, took the light apart, then had to drill the reflector out to make room for the new bulb. After I made the hole bigger, I then had to cut the leads down on the LED as they are way too long. Ofter I trimmed them up I installed the bulb into the light. This is just simply inserting the leads in where the old one were. Now for the battery, I am using a 12 volt mn 21/23. This battery is the same size as AAA only shorter. So, you will need to make a spacer. I had a small bolt and an acorn nut laying around so that is what I used.(This is what I used, I am not saying that this is proper way to do it.) I plugged everything together and let there be light.
Now, with this mod, you will get a much, much brighter white light, and you will get a much better flood. The down size is that you have lost almost most of your throw. (Not like this little light had much throw anyway) I will add some pictures shortly of the modded Single AAA going up against a stock Mini Mag that runs off of two AA. I should have those pics in a day or so.
I have modded lights and other odds and ends in the past. If you have never modded anything, I DO NOT recommend that you try even the simplest of modds with out someone there to help you are show you. So. make sure that you have some one who has sone this before!!!! Modding can be dangerous, do not attempt unless you know what you are doing and have the tools and the knowldge to do so. This post is here just to share in my persnal modding of this product, this is in no way the complete set of instruction on how to mod this light. I take no responabilty in anyone actions but my own.

MagLite Solitare modification

I found one of my old solitaires in my tool box the other day. I started looking at it and realized it is not very bright. So, we are going to modify it. I will be changing the ican bulb out and will be replacing it with a 5mm LED, I will then over-drive the LED with a M12/23 battery. I will post some pics once I get started on this.

My Leatherman Blast Meets my Beloved Cybertool

I got a new multitool the other day and I could not be happier. I have always enjoyed carrying things such as a flashlight, a knife, a pen, and of course a small grouping of tools. The tools, the pen, and the knife have always been packed into one neat little package called a "Swiss Army Knife CyberTool 34". The 34 meaning it has a total of 34 tools in all, they also have a 24 tool and a 41 tool. I felt that the 34 was more then enough. This little tool has never let me down. I swear by it.
However, I have been wanting something a little bigger. A little more powerful. I was very glad to find this in the "Leatherman Blast". Now while the Blast only has 16 tools it does the 16 very well.
The Blast is a full size set of needle nose pliers with several other tools built into the handles. These tools include a knife, a pair of scissors, a small saw, a metal file, screwdrivers, can opener, wire strippers and a few other nice tools. Now the Cybertool has these as well. Only they are smaller. The Blast is very nice and sturdy feeling. I am enjoying ownership of it very much. I have only had it about two weeks, and I have not had a chance to dive into a lot of jobs with it. But, this summer when I am out on my motorcycle. The Leatherman Blast will be right there along for the ride. I will post another article about the Blast later this summer once I have had it for a bit longer.
I will say this, no matter who you go with, Leatherman, SOG, Swiss Army, Gerber, or anyone else. These small belt mounting tool boxes are beyond great. I encourage everyone to go out and get one.
